Productive meeting of ALTERNATIVE advisory board
On 19th & 20th May, ALTERNATIVE advisory board, online meeting took place. The purpose of the advisory board is to provide advice on the direction and implementation of ALTERNATIVE’s work and on effective ways for using the ALTERNATIVE platform.
Board members and participants were welcomed by ALTERNATIVE project coordinator Gianluca Ciardelli, Politecnico di Torino and the meeting organizer Milon Gupta. Two of the four advisory board members participated: Dr. Nicole Kleinstreuer, US NTP Interagency Center for the Evaluation of Alternative Toxicological Methods and Dr. Isabella de Angelis from the Italian National Institute of Health.
ALTERNATIVE research topics were presented by respective work package leaders. WP3 leader Ronette Gehring presented on Chemical selection. Advisory board members found it quite innovative and suggested to support the same with their ongoing work. Various pros & cons of the drug testing and pesticide testing were discussed. Chemical protocol Status & progress was presented by David Suñol (Leader WP6) he explained the experimental series. Engaging questions were asked to Advisory board members on the control of experiments that covered important details. WP4 leader and technical manager of the project Federico Vozzi presented opportunities for improvements in-vitro system. This model is developed with printed sensors and bio reactor. Overall these presentations lead to productive discussions between the advisory board members and the consortium representatives on technical and regulatory aspects of ALTERNATIVE’s work.
The next meeting of the ALTERNATIVE advisory board is planned to take place in autumn 2022.
