ALTERNATIVE 5th Advisory board meeting
The 5th ALTERNATIVE Advisory Board Meeting took place on Monday, 10th February 2025, from 15:30 to 17:00 CET. The board members were welcomed by Pooja Mohnani (EURESCOM), followed by an overview of the agenda presented by Federico Vozzi (CNR) on key research developments within the project, covering advancements in AOP development, in silico modeling, and in-vitro systems.
The first research topic, AOP development, was presented by Alexandra Schaffert. The discussion revolved around oxidative stress mechanisms, particularly the role of mitochondrial membrane permeability, ionic capacity changes, and calcium overload in affecting the cardiac and nervous systems. It was highlighted how these elements have been integrated into the WiKi AoP and how networks were created for further investigation.
The second research topic, focusing on the in silico model, was presented by David Sunol(Eurecat). Following the presentations, Federico Vozzi (WP4) presented in-vitro system research. The advisory board members were curious and inquired about electrical stimulations, TK model data, 3D ALTERNATIVE model process and how they corresponded to in-vitro findings.
The meeting concluded with a wrap-up by Federico Vozzi (CNR), who summarized the technical developments and overall results of the project. The board members expressed interest in continued collaboration, while Project Coordinator Gianluca Ciardelli (Politecnico di Torino) extended his gratitude to the Advisory Board members for their valuable insights and contributions. The meeting was successful and this continued interaction to advancing the ALTERNATIVE project’s research efforts and fostering future collaborations is assured.
